Title: back splinters fix?

hi. the red oak board bow i recently made poped two fairly bad splinters on the back near the handle. i put a really tight leather handle on it and some tb2. yall think this will hold? (thanx for the leather mullet.  ;D)

i assume it wasnt backed?  I would always back a board bow .  If it is near the handle you might be able to glue a peice of wood over the splinters like an overlay on the back of the handle . How does it feel now

You don't have to automatically back a board bow. That depends  on the grain. You can wrap a splinter with sinew (set in hide glue) or thread set in Duco. Wrap the other side too so it looks good. Leather will work and I see you used that. Jawge

yeah, the leather seems to have worked good. i nailed a portapodie a few times, and thumped some stumps. and jawge, your sight is what i followed to make it, and man will it shoot. and the grain was ok, but not perfect. the best i could get ahold of. but it worked out good. thanks for the tips guys, i think im gonna try the thread idea if it ever happens again. sounds cool.
