Post by: Ritchie on July 02, 2008, 11:39:31 pm
This is my first atempt at building a bow..It is a learning experince that im enjoying. The bow is made out of black lockost it is 68"nock to nock. Right now it's around 55#@27"..My Dad (knightd)begged me to shorten it but I wouldn't let him. I wanted a long bow they are awesome!!! Here are a few pic's I will post more after it is done..the first one is showing the profile before tillering on it.the other's are self explanetory I hope?

Thank's for looking

I cant get him to stop shooting this one long enough to start building the next... :D..He had to leave the sap wood on this one.. the stave wasn't thick enough to take it down to one ring..

Good looking bow. Some of the old Cherokee locust bows were sapwood backed. The contrast between the sapwood and heartwood looks great. Looks like you did a fine job on this one.

Dude sweet bow for your first :o

By the way tell your dad he should be happy that you are shooting that bow and not immidiately starting on another.
(Its less hard on the good tree population 8))
