Here is an osage Static Recurve that I just finished up.
52" N-2-N
60#@28"
Sinew backed.
1" of set due to the shortness and the small portion of working limb that i opted for in the tiller.

Final tiller is still a bit off but i called it done. For some reason this one would just not cooporate well. Its still passable and good though. Bottim limb is kept a bit stiff. I have started leaving my short sinew bows very stiff in the bottm as they tend to take some time to settle in.
Thanks for looking:

You use a caul and dry heat to recurve it? looks great, is it fast?
-
Very nice bow!!
-
I'm always a sucker for short bows and this is a dandy :-*
Bookmarked, too, for June Self BOM

Great little bow, Steve. With those tips out in front as far as they are, a bit of set won't hurt anything...might even make it a sweeter shooter. I also love your pictographs. Being the forward thinking person I am, ::) I can see one of these bows in my future! 8) I can only hope it comes out as well as yours has. Pat

Thanks guys, I apricate the nice comments.
I knew you'd like this one Ryan. More your style then mine but I wanted to try something differnt. Replicating is chalenging and time consuming, bows like this are just plain old fun to make becaus ethey can be whatever you want.
Lost arra, The grip and all the wraps are linen.
Rich, I boil and the use a caul for static tips. They are a bit thick and I prefer the boiling method for them. I use dry heat for everything else. Its quick. I am not sure how fast as I do not run my bows through chronos. I would imagine its pretty quick though.
Pat, cant wait to see yours.

Man, that turned out great! You say the tiller's off? where ;D? Love that full draw shot!
-
Thatīs a very very nice bow Steve!!
Really like this style of bows but for some reason when I try to make one of this type of shortie, I finally ended up with a longbow!!..LOL...
How many time had you drying for the sinew layer/s?
Cheers...
Asier.

Uwe, Its acrylic paint.
Asier, I let my sinew dry for 2 weeks.

Awesome! I really like it. Jawge

Yep, I agree AWESOME!! Nice work.
-
Great looking bow. Justin

I love the shape and style as well as the artwork. The only thing I would change is that outer limb width. It's not doing much so it could be a whole lot narrower and lighter. You can see the bows that Marc makes have quite an abrupt narrowing in that area.

That there is my kind of bow and the full draw shot is awesome! Saw Filer

Very nice bow! I like the art work and the tiller looks good too. Scott

Thanks guys, I am hoping to get out in the next few days and really shot the heck out of her and see how she does with a day in the field in humid michigan weather. Betcha I will see more set before the week is out. Thats ok I like a bit of set in my personall bows.
PatM, She is just great the way she is. Not every bow needs to maxamize efficancey and trim every bit of extra wood. I dont work that way. Those tips are elegant a gracefull they dont need to be anything more or less then what they are. Thanks for the input though.

I like the bow and the bark. Cool how you put ithe bark on inset from the edges. I used twine to wrap mine on and went for an over the curve look.

n2everything,
Its easy. You make a form out of a 2x6. Boil the tip (I boil for 1 hour for static tips) then support the belly with a metal strap and make one nice even bend. Lots of guys do it without a metal strap but i think its better safe then sorry espically with the static tip cause they are so thick. The other things is to make sure that you do not have a mess of groth ring violations on the belly....(yes belly)....be sure that the area you are bending is on one groth ring. This will make it harder for the wood to splinter. You should follow that rule on all heat bends. I do and never have a crack or splinter and I bend the wood when its real thick.
Next recurve I make i will take some pics. I am sorta bored of them after just making 2 in a row so it will be awhile.
