Title: Practical - No, Fun -Yes
Post by: Burnsie on January 04, 2026, 11:17:47 pm
I probably should have given up on this one a long time ago, but it turned into a challenge and I thought I could make something unique out of it. I think I've taken it as far as I can, and it actually shoots a decent arrow, but it will never be long for the world if shot a lot.  The crazy kinks and bends in the wood created some natural hinges that I tried to work around. It also developed several parallel cracks that I wrapped with thread.  If nothing else it really improved my skills at chasing a ring working through this one. I used the big swoop in the center to create a center shot arrow rest made out of walnut, and filed in some finger grooves for a better grip.

Looks like you done the best you could with what you had to work with, glad it made a shooter. Nice challenging work, these kind of staves teach you a lot for sure.  :)
