Well I went to Branson then I was close to Jim Hammer so I went to see him and check on his wood supply. He was low on staves but had 100 or so bow blanks. I bought a few bow blanks because they had the wood I like in them. Here is a couple of his character bow blanks . I seen the one with a big knot at the fade and it challenged me to see if I could make it work with out braking.

Two character blanks

I spent about 4 hours on the heat bench getting the bow straight to my liking. Put the tip overlays on.
-
Here is just how big the knot is. That being at the highest stress point makes it interesting.
-
Can’t wait to see this develop. I have faith you got this.
-
Well, you certainly have my attention Arvin. This will be fun!
-
A couple of nice, interesting sticks. :OK
-
Love them kind of staves Arvin, I feel sure you will do it justice. Pappy
-
Well how is it going Arvin ?? Pappy
-
Mark I have a string on it and will start tillering it soon. So far so good.
-
Ok one coat of true oil , 38@26.

No shock in the bow . Goes to show ya the mass on inner limb does not yield shock.
-
Love it. It should make a great target bow that will get lots of attention. Great job! :OK
-
Nice Arvin, I have never found one with a hole had any more shock than any other, yes you make it wider to go around the knot hole but you take away the mass of the hole so if you measure the limb and take away the hole it is about the same. Anyway love them characters bows and as I figured, you done it justice. Pappy
-
Pappy I built one you could drop a half dollar through the top mid limb. It had good cast and a lady won the Arkansas longbow shoot with it. But it was full of shock!!!! Lots of character though.
-
Another great bow Arvin. I never had a doubt you would turn it into a great shooter.
-
It’s going to my leather man Monday. I am going to have him put a nice leather wrap on the handle. You have to know your limitations. 🤠🤠🤠the bow is deserving of a nice wrap.
-
A couple more coats of true oil and a wrap it’s done.
-
That's a beauty Arvin, can't wait to see it all dolled up. :)

Very nice bow, Arvin. I love character bows especially.
I like your buckle collection too. :OK
-
Pat that buckle collection belongs to my wife. I’m just a average shot.
-
Nice bow Arvin. That’s a great spot for a knot. Like you said. Keeps the shock low. Should be a shooter.
Tell Debra we said hello.

Love the JD Jones look handle wrap... you have a keeper there, but I'm sure someone has already talked you out of it. LOL That knot is in the perfect location for sure. Great job Arvin. :OK
-
That handle wrap really finishes it off. Love it.
-
Yep , Looking good. Love the grip. :)
Pappy
-
Classic! Love a big knot hole like that.

Ol' Hole-in-the-bow Chuck would approve! And so do I.
