After Helene, all we needed is fires. We have had very little rain and very low humidity for the last few months. With all the leaves from last leaf fall and the debris from Helene and high winds the danger has been building.
Last Saturday a week ago I went to Houston to help my daughter move. While there the fires started. One of the mandatory evacuation areas was within 2 miles from out home. Fortunately the rain started yesterday and will continue today so the evacuations have been cancelled. Also fortunate was that no personal injuries of buildings, homes, etc. were damages.
I got home from Houston last night. Marcia had stuff packed and friends lined up if evacuation was necessary. Big fires can be quite scary.

We've had .55" of easy rain yesterday and .81" today. The evacuation orders were lifted today. I think we are out of the woods(so to say ;D ) and everyone is starting to relax. I heard 1 house and an out building in Swain County, NC burned but other than that it was about
10,000 ac forestland burned in several different locations.
