Title: Target/roving arrows
Post by: Aaron1726 on March 04, 2025, 05:50:10 pm
Has been a beautiful day today so made it a point to get a little shooting in.  I made these arrows a while back but never got around to getting pictures of them.  Bamboo shafts, 2 feather fletched, 2 of them with goose feathers, the other 2 are turkey, and then painted up.

What I think is neat though is that they can do double duty as target or roving arrows with the help of some spent 9mm casings.  I found that the 9mm hulls fit perfectly over 11/32 field points and hold quite snug, but can still be removed with pliers.  These are the aluminum casings that only weigh about 25grains so I can tell they are even on there when shooting.

Any way, just thought I'd share.  Plus, the arrow section needs some more activity anyway  :)

Here's another one that I took a file to.  Was trying to make it more of a small game point with the pointy ends.

Also, the brass hulls work too, they just add more weight.

Thanks GlisGlis.  Yeah I like the look of the green but they can be tricky to find if they slip under the grass.

Nice arrows and good idea on the casings, I have used them before but never over field tip so my weight was really light up front, I will give it a try over field tips next time. :)
