I was cleaning out my she yesterday and I noticed a stave in the corner I had forgotten about. I had planned on splitting into billets and splicing it as it was only 52" long. I kept glancing over at it and next thing I know I had in my hands. I started off I was just going to clean it up and see how it looked. I ended up spending the rest of the day on it. I decided on a 52" recurve 4" backset with a stiff handle, no deflex. Going for 50# @ 24". I need to let it sit for a couple of days because of the steaming. I will attach a pic when I take the clamps off of the nock overlays.

Our stories are similar, Steve. My lay off was closer to 3 years. Its started with a pair of bumpy yew billets staring at me as I fletch some carbon arrows for an ILF bow I shoot a lot. Next thing I know I'm in the basement going through moving boxes trying to find the few tools I needed to build a bow.
Enjoy your build.

Likewise, you enjoy yours!

I like your bow shop!

When I get it finished you and few more need to come and build some bows . Just saying! Arvin

It’s been almost a year for me now too.
I really like a bow like that Steve. That fits me really good. Id be interested to see how it does in flight compared with your 50 lb 27”
I have one I need to finish up from a stave Arvin sent me.
I like your bow shop to Arvin. Maybe I can make some shavings in it someday. Glad you are getting settled in.

This is great to see you building again! You have had a huge influence in primitive archery and it is great to see you still at it.

Looks good for a start. Should be a great bow!

Nice looking profile to begin with Steve.
I've had a half dozen prospect staves and roughed out bows in the house for over a year which should be dry by now too.
-
Good looking profile. Can’t wait to see how this one develops. I have some shorter staves I have been holding off on, trying to decide what to do with them. Glad to see you starting back on a new build.

I have it all finished up, but I can't draw it. I need to exercise my bow muscles for about a week so I can take a pic a full draw.

That's good Steve. I brought in a stave into my shop the other day, might get to it this winter

That is good to hear Mark. Sometimes starting is the hardest part.

Reading this thread made me realize i haven't made a bow since early 2019. Might just have to dig through my stave stash.
