Here is a bow that I made for my black powder club's 2022 Rendezvous raffle. It's made from a Willamette Valley yew wood log that was gifted to me by one of the members. This is the second bow I have made from this log and I think I can get one more. The bow is 68" long and pulls 48# @ 28" and can be shot either left or right-handed. The log sat outside on the ground for a year and was starting to deteriorate, so I worked down the sapwood to where it seemed okay and backed it with rawhide for durability. The tip overlays are Strunk-style and are made from buffalo horn. Limb width is 1 3/8” to ½” at the tips. The limb profile is a mild R/D which was steamed and heated in before tillering. The bow holds ¾” of reflex at rest. I hope you enjoy the pics.

Beautiful bow! I love the subtle curves and how smoothly the bow flows. Masterpiece.
-
Fine work and a great looking piece of wood.
-
Your bows are always so clean with beautiful lines. Detail work is outstanding. Excellent tiller.
-
Very nice. I don’t think I have ever seen such a clean yew bow. Glad you got that log off the ground and in the vice. Well done
Bjrogg
-
like it :D nice slightly reflex levers
-
Very nice bow. Outstanding workmanship.
-
Thank you Bjrogg, it was a beautiful log but had many checks and degraded sap wood. It took some creative splitting, laying out, and sawing, but I ended up with enough useable billets for 3 bows. Might have gotten twice that many had the log been properly cared for. People marvel at high Cascades yew and for good reason, but low elevation yew is nothing to sneeze at when you can find it.
-
Stunning work as always Gordon. That’ll make a lot of money for the club!
-
Always look forward to seeing your bows, and this one doesn't disappoint. Very nice.
-

Masterful, truly masterful.
I must echo others’ comments and say that your bows’ lines are just beautiful.

Glad to see you back, Gordan. Beautiful yew bow as always. :OK
-
Nice tiller and beautiful craftsmanship on this bow.
-
Thank you for all the nice compliments. I will be retiring soon so when I'm not fishing or hunting, I'll be in my shop turning out bows. I expect you will see some more of my work on the site in the near future. Cheers.
-
I absolutely have loved every one of your build-alongs in the past. This yew bow is as nice as all the ones you have posted in the past. Glad we will be seeing more of your work in the future. Awesome work!
-

Beautiful bow as always sir, so glad to see you back at it
-
Sweet ambidextrous clean looking yew bow Gordon.I'm sure the recipient will like it.
Like the formal wear you got on and the muzzle loader displayed also.
Just got through talking to a friend of mine from Iowa down in Florida at a rendezvous going on right now.He says there's a lot of people there.
It used to be in the past not many archery people would participate at rendezvous but nowadays they do.
-
Beautiful work as always! Always enjoy seeing your bows and photography on this site....
-

-
in this world there's no perfection. but this bow might be as close as it can get (-S
thanks for showing this one.

-
Great looking bow.
I love that overlay, I don't think I've seen one shaped completely independent of the shape of the tip before.
-
Very nice as always.
I noticed your wood bench. Are you a woodworker also?
-
Neuse, my father was a cabinet maker. I inherited the bench and his tools after he passed.
