I made this little recurve to donate to The Carolina Traditional Archer to be raffled of at the N.C. State Championships near Hickory, NC in a few weeks. I donate a bow every year and try to make them for kids.
She is 49 1/2"t/t, 30#@20" and made with some mulberry I got from Hillbilly. I used tiger striped tissue paper on the back for decoration/camo, double Ferret's floppy rests for an ambidextrous bow and cow horn overlays. She took a bit of set but shoots very well anyway.
This ought to put a smile on the face of a kid! ;D Pat

Nice job Pat. Very striking pattern. I need to get a couple finished to raffle at the Utah Trapper Assn. convention in August.

Nice little bow Pat ! That looks like your normal draw length..... ::) Just kidding....lol. ;D
-
Nice bow Pat. Very creative thinking on the tiger stripe. Kids love that kinda stuff. Danny
-
Thanks guys.
Ryan, you ain't far off. ;) I think it gets shorter every year.
BTW, She is 1 1/2" at the fades and out about 4" then tapering to 5/8" tips. Pat

That's a cute little bow ,Pat. It ought to make a little one very happy. I thought I was the only one using construction string for handle wraps.
-
Thats all I had that matched! ;D Works well. Pat
-
Nice one Pat! Looks like it would blend in just fine on the Sarangeti. ;D
-
Sweet little bow Pat, that should make a little archer very happy. Tissue paper makes a great backing.
-
Cool lil' weapon, Pat. Somebody should be happy to get that one.
-
Nice little bow Pat
-
She's a purtyen, as we've all come to expect - will make some kid proud. I need to check out some tissue paper at Wal Mart did ya say? ;D.

I still have the sister to this stave that I am going to make a sinew backed bendy handle bow for me! ;D I was quite impressed with this mulberry. The bow has been pulled to 24" and shows no sign(other than a little set) of trauma. This is good stuff. Thanks Steve and UNCA! ;) And thanks everyone else. Pat
-
Good job Pat! That will definitely put a smile on some kids face!
-
Pat whats the specs on the bow and what design is it? I may want to make a sinew backed on simmilar to it.

wow. sweet little bow.
any kid is gonna love that pattern on the back. they will think it very cool
I really like that mulbury coloring. did you stain the belly or leave it natural. might have to try that sometime.
Nice bow pat. gonna make a kid smile.

I haven't sent you the bill for the mulberry yet. ;D I've got a couple sister staves to that one that I'm looking forward to working on when I get some time.
-
nice design on that bow :o :o :o!!
-
Wade,The mulberry has only Tru-Oil on it. This piece has some nice coloration on the belly.
David, She's 49 1/2" long t/t, 1 1/2" at the fades and out 4" then a straight taper to 5/8" tips. It is basically a flat bow with kicked up tips. The handle is 3" long and placed in the center of the bow and the fades are 1" long. With the way this piece has worked I think a bendy handle bow with kicked up tips would be a perfect shorty bow for my 26" draw.
Steve, that bill was "paid in full" . Don't you remember? ::) ;D
Pete, I've been using string of all types for handle wraps and I love them. They are cheap, effective and attractive. Set in epoxy it makes for a good, waterproof, textured grip for hunting situations in all sorts of weather. Pat

Thanks Pat! I like that bow. With sinew backing I think you should be able to get a much longer draw out of it too.
-
David, Let me know! ;) Pat
-
that's one nice kid's bow!
