Title: Good bye, Old Girl
Post by: Hawkdancer on September 21, 2021, 01:05:05 am
A sad day, as we put our old dog, Eilee, 13 plus years old, to sleep for the last time.  She has joined the others in the pack across the "rainbow bridge", and will be there when the horn calls for the hunt!
And I hate to see a grown man cry, especially me!  Little Fiddler is taking it real hard!

Sorry to hear that - never a easy task. The last 30 or so Years, I've had to the same thing twice. Still think of them both often and just can't seem to get motivated to get another now that I'm older, and don't get around too good. Prayers sent - Bob.

Sorry for your loss Jerry. They are more than a companion. It is a very special bond we develop.

My daughter comes home every weekend with her little Zoey. Zoey has brought much joy to our daughter and our whole family.

Every weekend she waits for me to come home. She greats me with great enthusiasm. As soon as I sit down she jumps up in my lap and gives me a “hug”.

This past weekend I have been gone early in the morning and not home till late at night. I didn’t even get to see my daughter or her Zoey. My daughter said Zoey is still mopping around and upset because she missed me. I missing her “hug” to.

Feel for your family Jerry. Really do

Bjrogg

PS Bob I hope you get around better and I think you should get another friend. Not a replacement. Just a good friend.

That will bring any full grown man to his knees.  It does me every time. I'm glad yall had each other for the time you did. It was time well spent.

Jerry : sorry to hear about your companion crossing the rainbow bridge, it's something that enters a our life all too often it seems.

Yet we get another dog and never lose the memories of the old one. Like you our pack at the rainbow bridge gets larger as we grow older. I imagine it will be quite a reunion.

So sorry to hear of your loss Jerry.
It's never an easy choice and always hurts. Cherish the memories Amigo.
I'll raise a glass in her honor tonight.

Pretty much what everyone has already said. We were in your shoes a few months ago. It's never easy.  I'll also raise a glass in her honor this evening.

That's a hard quote to take.

Sorry to hear that, Jerry.  Wish there were something I could say to make it better.  With you and Little Fiddler for masters, I'm sure she had a good run.

None of our dogs had to be put down, all simply recognized it was their time and laid down comfortably and went to sleep.
The last two were found resting on their bed with a throw pillow or stuffed animal toy under their heads with no outwards sign of the COD. I hope I pass over so easily when the time comes.
They all lived a full life and were much loved.

I do worry about my Mau cat. He is around 21 years old now, still very active though showing his age now, the life span of this breed is said to be 24. When you have an animal that long you know his passing will be hard to take.

Condolences on your friend now at rest.

In true Celtic style, we raised a glass or two!  And had a laugh and a tear at some of her exploits!  To you, Eilee, Ta doc, Ardu
