I’m trying so hard right now to make something resembling a point.... it just ain’t happening. Most are quartzite, really nice quartzite. One is bad quartzite, one is chert and another is unknown.

I guess you can’t see the last one well but they are broken, wonky, and thick. I still need to work one rock but we will see how that turns out

Hi Russell. Well…the material looks difficult. I know I repeat this a lot, but I think you should drop a coin on something really predictable and even to work like Dacite or Georgetown to have a consistent Pattern and some results. Of course, there is glass and stuff.
I hope you can work through the wall. If you think it would help I’ll FaceTime with you…send a PM if ya want. Your call.

I have been working with what I thought was ok, but then I got some really nice stuff and it is SO much easier to see when I do something right because the rock does what it is supposed to. Whereas on crappy rock I can make a good hit and it still turns out poorly

Russell.. that material is tough stuff brother... quartz is really tough.. agree to break down and buy some more lithic material... or even get some old tv tubes.. porcelain, glass bottoms... gut

I think you are lucky to get what you did out of that crap. Get some Georgetown or Dacite like Parnel suggested.
