Title: Pins on Walnut
Post by: IrishJay on June 02, 2021, 05:49:47 am
Howdy gang, its been a while since I posted, haven't had much time for bow making lately. But, I did get out and cut a couple trees today and am in the process of getting them debarked and put away to dry. The piece in question is black walnut roughly 1.5" diameter, when I got the bark off I realized it has a lot of little new growth pins on it. Should I sand these off before drying? After drying? Or leave them and work around them?

Leave them but try to place them in the bow so they aren't close to the edge.

Thank you gentlemen, I'll update you in 9 months to a year, when the stave is dry ;)
