This is my first bow in more than 6 years!
Found the yew stave while walking my dog. I thought the stave had some really nice reflex but due to some massive knots I had to sacrifice that for a flawless stave with some quite a bit of deflex, so I added some nice recurves. I also had to hollow out the belly due to a high crown back! It’s good to be back making bows ! Expect more! Enjoy!
54” nock to nock

Looks incredible. Is that arrow pass inlayed? If so I’d love to hear how you did it.
-
Very nice. You got a good bend in those limbs
-
Beautiful bow
-
Well you certainly didn’t forget anything. Just like riding a bike.
Beautiful bow.
Look forward to seeing more.

a great bow with a super attention to detail...I would hunt with it...if I could still still pull that kind of weight. LOL :OK
-
Sweet bow :)
-
Very nice :)
I like the decoration too.

This is my first bow in more than 6 years!
I'm not sure I believe that ???. Have you been practicing?
Nice work though, That RD profile must work great.
-
Beautiful bow in all aspects, mighty fine work. Don't look like you forgot much over your time off. ;) :)

Whoa!... just a beautiful bow, great work.
-
Very beautiful work. The detail of your arrow pass is my favorite part.
-
Thanks guys! It’s a nice shooter! As for the arrow pass, it’s a lot more simpler than it looks, I just used a dremel to drill into the wood and filled it with epoxy resin coloured with charcoal to get the horn look, the “horn” overlays are also made from epoxy resin.
I am more in practised making English longbows and warbows than flatbows, I’m hoping to make a recurved ELB out of some Osage I have which should be fun. Has anyone came across a recurved ELB before? Any pointers would be appreciated!

Fantastic

Very nice work. You did justice to that stick.

I love every bit of this!

Spectacular!

Simple or not it’s gorgeous. I think I’ve seen a few recurved elb’s in the past. They’re generally milder, non-contact curves from what I can remember people making. I don’t think they got them working much but you could probably get them to straighten out. Osage should work well for something like that.
-
What a Bow! And 65 at 27 for 54 length with such recurves is outstanding I think.
-
What a beauty!
-
I wouldn't bother with the recurves on an elb. Doesn't work too well....on a shorter bendy handle bow....yes :)
-
Man, that bow is beautiful and really comes with impressive specs. Can't stop staring at it - congratulations and thanks for posting. I think I have seen your bows somewhere...maybe at paleo planet? Glad you are back, keep 'em coming!
I have made something elbish with recurves. I did some deflex in the handle. Maybe not doing it too long and it works fine. Main problem to me seemed to get the recurves slim enough to connect to the width-taper of an elb profile; in fact I had the recurves working very well (too good ;)) so finally one of them broke at full draw. I was lucky the break left a large glueing surface so I didnt gave up, glued it with 2k and stabilised it with a linen backing. The curves now work a little less.

Thank you! Yes I used posted on Paleo!
That bow has beautiful shape so aesthetically pleasing to the eye ! The exact shape I’ve been thinking about creating, thanks for sharing. I have a nice piece of Osage that I’m debating making it with or a mollegabet style bow.
