Title: Harvesting yew near Eugene
Post by: Whiskeyjet on May 18, 2021, 02:53:07 pm
Hey y’all, I’m gonna be in Eugene Oregon next month for about a day. Is it feasible or legal to go find some yew to cut and take back East with me? Thanks In advance.

You need to contact the forest service and ask about their permit. It usually takes a few weeks. Just east of Eugene is the Willamette national forest. You’d contact the McKenzie River or Middle Fork districts, which are closest to Eugene. I’ve only been in the McKenzie River district of these two and there is some yew in there. The coordinator should be able to tell which section of the district is best. But you may need to call in order to get the process going as it can take them a bit of time, that’s what happens with Gov’t.
