Title: Elm flatbow finished
Post by: PatrickH on April 18, 2021, 05:11:20 pm: This is made out of an elm stave i forgot about that set by my water heater for 5 years. Its 63in ntn, 59lbs @ 25in, it has 3/4in set on the bottom limb, the top has 1 1/4in (but the knot on that side always put it back about 1/2in so it has about the same amount of set). Slightly concave hollowish heat treated belly, and a little bit of phylum left on the back for camouflage (and aesthetic.) Walnut stain with a bit of tung oil rubbed on it. It has been shot in with a few hundred shots. The handle wrap is an old piece of leather with rawhide lacing, and a small leather arrow rest. The string is unfortunately made of synthetic bowstring material, but maybe this summer i will have better luck with my milkweed strings. Anyway thoughts and advice are welcome.
