Title: I got a boomerang for a stave.

I have a piece of yew that I wanted to make into a longbow. But this thing is a boomerang! Can yew withstand lateral straightening with steam?

Yes yew will bend like butter :) Just make sure its hot enough with the heat well soaked in.

I think you also would want to clamp solid to cure or straighten gradually, but I am not really experienced at steaming.

No sweat bro. Just get the wood worked down to a reasonable amount and steam bend it. If you want to be super fancy about it, some dudes cut a "c" shape along the length of a 2X4 and clamp it.
