Title: RD tiller help
Post by: Arrowbuster on January 27, 2021, 06:28:15 pm
This is my first rd bamboo backed bow. I was hesitant about putting some bend in it but did it anyway. So my question is do I need to bend more mid limb? Appears to my untrained eye to be crowding the fades?

I think it does need to bend mid limb.

Yes mids and outers.
The main problem is your glue-up shape. The deflex section is ok but the trasistion to the reflex should be more gradual. You can achieve this by altering your form or more likely your lams were a bit thick at glue-up meaning that you got that refelxed kink at mid limb. The reflex should be a bit more gradual.
With your stave there it will always look like two stiff spots at the transistion make sure you don't go to far with thinning the limbs here.

Bownarra, yes that was exactly what I did, I should have taken more off the wood before I glued it up. I know next time. Started taking some out of mid and ends and its looking much better. Thank you for the help guys.
