Title: some fresh knapping.
Post by: Ryan_Gill_HuntPrimitive on May 05, 2008, 10:25:55 pm
thanks to some new tools from wolf watcher and some indirect influence and guidence from cowboy and some worthy stone from justin, my knapping has been taken to the next step.  thinner and longer and more precise.
these are made from the obsidian i got from Justin Snyder a few months back. very nice stone. i broke a couple heads in half while working them so i set it aside for a while. looks like the antler billets were the key i was missing. everything fell into place. that is some scary sharp stuff, Justin.
i knocked a long flake and was able to shave with it.  no cuts to my pinkies though ;)
hopefully more to come soon. thanks for looking- Ryan

I know what you mean TL. My learning took off too.  Now I can lay waste to a rock in half the time.   ???  You on the other hand picked up the better traits.  Nice points.

Hey, thems some good lookin points Ryan ;D. Glad you graduated to the next level - no good to be stuck in a rut and start loosing interest. I'll bet you haft those to an arra and will kill anything you shoot em at - well almost, don't know how tough gator hide is ;D.

i never shot at a gator.....to be honest i never really wanted to kill one, not for an particular love of them, just never interested me....  i did however in my stupider years wade into chest deep water with a mag light to catch them by hand. not to mention bail out of a boat onto them.  i never did get bit....go figure.   i always let them go after proving to my friends what a man  i was    hahaha- Ryan

Sounds thrilling to me ;D. I was fishing in the surf "Bolivar TX" in chest deep water swatting sharks with my fishin rod one time, better judgement set in and I got out. Figured moma was around somewhere..
