Title: What does this tool do?
Post by: WhistlingBadger on December 03, 2020, 09:00:46 pm
Found this in the garage.  Anybody know what it's for?  Best guess so far came from my father in law:  It's to hold your doritos bag closed when you make a bathroom trip during half time.

Maybe used for pulling leather over a shoe last or possibly a hand held sheet metal break.

Looks to me like a sheet metal break, I’ve had to make basically the same thing at work for one off forming operations.

Yep, I think you two are right.   Looks like companies call them "seamer tongs."  For bending sheet metal.

Thanks for helping me solve a mystery!

Also known as a duck bill. At least that’s what the HVAC guys around here call them

Oversized duck bill pliers. But not much good for a break without radiused edges. How would it compensate for minimum bend radius otherwise?
