Some points I beat out of an old lawn mower blade.

Nice! Loaded for bear in chain mail >:D (lol) (SH)! There is life after mowing! I have a couple of old mower blades looking for a next life! I thought about neck knives or points.

You do nice work

Good stuff. What did you use for quench and How well did them blades harden? I have several jd mower blades that are supposed to be good steel similar to 5160 or 52100. I tried hardening a small piece off of one in canola oil and it didn’t take. I’ll try again with different quenches.

Oil didn’t work for me either. I quench in water and I don’t draw back. Just leave them as quenched. Ive made several. Very tough and springy. Harder than a factory Case knife which I like. I was an electrician before I retired and used my work knife to ream conduit with. It will shave a sliver off of EMT without dulling.
Reasonably easy to get an edge on.

Here is my work knife. The insert is from a Klein 11 in 1. Phillips on one end, straight on the other and a 1/4” nut driver. Scales are Cherry.
