Hi Guys,
does anyone has experience with tempering Hickory heartwood?
I`ve done in the past once and the wood comes out like rubber - I could bend it in both directions.
I`ve build a lot of Hickory sapwood only bows with heat treating and great results - Hickory sapwood loves the heatgun...
Cheers,

I’ve only made a few hickory bows with heartwood and only one with heat treating. I have the impression that like other heart woods it’s a little more brittle and shouldn’t be heat treated quite as thoroughly as sapwood but Im not sure. Otherwise it was a routine heat treating with typical results
