Nice cool morning with no wind so I got a chance to smoke a few hides today, 2 big ones and 2 real small ones. I used a mix on these of aspen and ash punkwood with a handleful of cedar bedding chips. Thanks for lookin, Later Bob :-T

Beautiful even color on those!
-
Very nice, Bob and the color is great.
I was curious what you were smoking when I first read the title. 8) (A)

Bob about how long do you smoke them for
-
Rob, depends on how my fire is doing, I like to keep my smoke cool so I have 6' of pipe on my stove before enters hides, I would say today I had 1-1/2 hrs per side. I just keep checking in a hole or a spot where sewing isn't good, for the color I want, also like to see color bleeding thru from inside to out then flip an do other side usually a little less time. Nice job.

Looking good! Nice color, and the skeeters likely won't bother you. The critters will wonder what is making the smokey smell!

Those look great outback. I still have a bunch of hides to finish up. Always something I’ve got to finish around. I hope they turn out that nice when I do them

Nice Bob, I need to get back on some of mine, maybe is a few months when the weather cools and the rain stops a bit. :)

You could just hang them anywhere here at the moment. We're getting a lot of smoke from the Oregon/California fires. It must be hell down there.

That smell is the smell of home for me. Nothing says comfort like a new pair of wrap-arounds or slippers... that smell of smoked hide filling the room.
-
Thought you drifted back to S.E. Asia for a minute there Bob, lol. Ah the good ole days!!
Anyway, good job on your hides.

Jeb, I usually get back to that ---- hole a couple times a year, naw everything here is good, hope to see ya at a knappin somewhere this yr. Bob

Me to Bob. What a crappy year. Mike Cook has been having a couple knap ins at his place but usually only 10 - 15 guys show up.
