Title: Fades
Post by: Allyn T on August 04, 2020, 08:00:05 am
Sorry if this is old hat to people on here. Does fade length depend on limb width? Such as if you had a limb 2" wide at the fades vs 1.25" at the fades, would the thinner width limbed bow require longer fades?

No. Fade length is determined by the thickness difference between the limb and the handle. The bigger the difference, the longer the fade.

No, it depends on how long the stave is vs draw length.  Give us your concrete situation. Jawge

Longer fades make more sense on wide limbed bows and narrow handled bows, reducing the angle of fiber 'cut through'.

Ah, that makes sense. The bow is 64" ttt, the handle width is 1 1/8" I haven't shaped the depth yet. The limbs are a hair under 3" wide at where the fades are supposed to end.
