Oke so i was shooting my recurve bow and i heard a cracking sound. I checked the back of the bow and between the fades and mid limb there started lifting a splinter on a mini pin knot/ scar. Is this bow ready for the firewood pile? Or is It still fixable?
-
Is that colouration a stain job? Or is that the actual colour of the wood?
-
That's some sort of stain job, charcoal with sunflower oil and a pva glue finnish
-
Is the problem in the handle area, and if so, does the handle bend?
-
The handle bends a little bit bit the splinter start lifting early mid limb, a little bit past the "fades" as far as they are there. But is It fixable or did i Just finnished making some siyahs? Haha
-
It’s hard to see what’s happened but maybe you could sinew back it?
-
Ricardo, Does this bow have extremely thin rings?
I have fixed a similar problem with a localised rawhide wrap, that covered the back and belly at the spot, glued and stitched whilst wet.
I'd probably remove the finish on the back squirt in some superglue,, then back the whole bow with rawhide.
-
Would sisal backing work too because i was planning to try that on a bow annyways
-
Sisal should work too. Are you talking about string, or loose fibres? I think rawhide would be better though.
-
Im talking about the fibers
-
Oh and hamish, It have about 4 ring on the tip wich is 3/4 inch thick.
I think i leave the bow in the rack for a while, started An other bow today, a purple leaf plum pyramid bow
