Josiah finally got to get out again with the bow Jamie Burleigh built him... not a bunny is safe anymore.. He says that his arrows are faster than the bunny's so they just give up and try and hide from him.. I am so proud ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Hawk

Congrats Hawk, Man on Man gives me the fever to get out and do a rabbit hunt, makes me hungry and also hungry for a taste of youth again. Might have to settle for a taste of camp fire cooked rabbit. Way to go Two Kills. Kenneth

Good job josiah! Is that a stone point he killed em' with?
-
No Kdub , he is in the process of knapping some points, Wolf Watcher built both my boys a complete kit for knapping and they have been learning the trade.. the point I made from a bandsaw blade... works great on bunnies and tough as can be.. Hawk

dont ya guys worry about shootin female rabbits with abbies or if they are pregnant, was just thinkin about that.....
-
We have an epidemic here the rabbits are so over populated in Montana that harvest numbers barely keep up.. good call though way to be thinking of the animals shows great ethics .. Hawk a/ho
-
we got seasons here. but still, i dont know if i could shoot em knowing they could be holding, but i would try and identify males from femals. if possible...
-
I am not sure if you can tell the difference between males and females... other than by who is on top ;D ;)
-
yeah, i guess ya could there..... ;)
-
The females are fat, wearing lipstick, and have a Slobobian accent. :o 8)..I love Loony Toons....Brian

Hawk, your boys got a better huntin average than most of us, keep it up Josiah...Brian
-
That is just too cool, congrats Josiah! Gotta be proud Hawkbow.
HT, I think it's great that you're concerned about harvesting females/males and seasons. As Mike stated , the rate of predation is not in tune with the rate of reproduction and so something has to give and in this case the vegetation will be overbrowsed, disease will spread more rapidly etc until there is a natural die off. By harvesting these abundant rabbits they are increasing the predation rate and keeping the local population in check and healthier.

Ummmm.... Rabbit Cacciatore! way to go Josiah! As per Tracy's point, I agree as I'm sure our friends in Australia could attest-the introduced rabbits took over, from what i understand. I wish my neighbor shared HT's ethics - he shot a 6pt, 2 does and button buck this year in our very overhunted national forest area.
Hawk, ya must be very proud!
