Sorry Mr. Pheasant, you'll have to wait. It's turkey season!
-
Yep, no turkeys around here, and pheasants are out of season. Just as well--pheasants are great eating, but plucking one always felt sort of like scraping the Mona Lisa. A few minutes before I grabbed my camera, he was just shining in the sun. There aren't too many birds that can hang with a rooster pheasant in the looks department.

Nice looking bird! Where do you think he will be come fall season? >:D

The same place the local muley bachelor herd disappears to every September, most likely.

Beautiful bird those ring necks.Like seeing them myself. He might be looking for a mate eh??
-
Yep, they get dumber than a teenage boy on prom night this time of year.

Seeing as how they are from china it is surprising that the same dim whits that are accosting asian people on the streets haven't declared war on them

yah know, a little extra pheasant meat never hurt!! >:D >:D
my first ever kill was a pheasant. i still remember that day...Yep, no turkeys around here, and pheasants are out of season. Just as well--pheasants are great eating, but plucking one always felt sort of like scraping the Mona Lisa.
well i dont pluck them. I want to try but my hunting buddies never do. I just take the pheasant, put its back on the ground, step on the wings as close to the body as i can, take the legs and pull. out comes the guts, then i tear the skin off of it, exposing the breast. i cut the breast out and then move on to the legs.
