Title: wenzel thread
Post by: stuckinthemud on April 10, 2020, 06:05:16 am
Morning!
My first few bow strings were from linen thread on a card from a haberdashery, then I went and bought Barbour 18/4 on a reel,  which made my next few strings.  I now know the carded linen was something called Wenzel thread.  Thing is I reckon the Wenzel might be a better material than the 18/4. Anyone else got any experience with it? My experience is too limited to say for definite either way.
Also, can you buy Wenzel thread on a reel, or do you have to buy it on the cards?

Thanks

perhaps you could do a break strength test on the wenzel thread and mention how many strands you use to make a string that fits a standard sized nock.

It would certainly interest primitive flight shooters if you have found a better linen thread.
