I made bow #2 from the other half of my North Carolina hickory board I described in an earlier post. I followed Lennie's suggestion for a quicker limb width taper and this bow does feel significantly snappier for the same draw weight.
66" ntn 50# @ 28"
There was an ugly spot on the lower limb so I put a rawhide patch there and wrapped the ends with non-stretch thread (aka Power Pro fishing line) soaked in glue.
I haven't put a finish on it yet but it won't be fancy.
Next week I head back to NC for more crappie fishing and maybe another piece of bow wood.

When I looked at this braced photo I thought the upper limb might be stiffer (is that negative or postive tiller??).
I went back and measured and it's not so I guess the rock wall isn't a good background.

Looks like a good hunting bow to me, the plain ones need love too ya know :)

This is a nice bow - Primitive - and well tillered. Let know if you put a finish on it but it is still bookmarked for April Self Bow of the Month.

Nice!
That's what a bow should look like.

Crappie fishing and bow wood harvesting. Sounds like my kind of trip.
Good looking bow, has a nice tiller.

I like that bow a lot. Looks like a great bow to go hunting with. Jesse

howdy L. Arra,
Very nice bow, it's simple and functional.
On your limbs, is that a straight taper - Pyramid(ish) design? And, what are the widths near the fades, and near the tips?
Is it heat-treated - seems to be popular lately?
Will those widths work for a White Ash stave?
Thanks much,
Canoe

Canoe:
Yes, I started the limb width taper immediately past the fades (pyramidish). Width at fades is 1 3/4" tips 3/8"
Lennie suggested this to improve performance after I posted bow #1.
Below is bow #1 from the other half of the same board. More overbuilt:

He was correct. #2 is a quicker bow. Plus it was simpler to tiller since the width tapering got the limbs starting to bend.
No heat treatment.
I haven't worked much with ash but I would assume a similar design would work.

Gave this bow my hickory finish treatment and it's ready for the woods. Matter of fact we spent this evening hunting stumps and collecting ticks.
Helmsman Spar urethane brushed on (no spray) then wiped down with a soft rag.
After drying, repeat the brushed on/wiped off Spar Poly.
After drying and sanding with 600grit as needed I give it about 5 coats of wipe-on poly followed by paste wax.
No leather grip. I liked the way this bow felt without a handle wrap.
Tip overlays are kingwood.
