Title: Bending deflex out of a stave
Post by: Jakesnyder on September 30, 2019, 05:46:54 pm
I have a black locust stave that has some deflex and I'd rather start the tillering with a little bit of reflex. I have pulled out some recurve before and am not sure what I did wrong. Can someone give me some pointers for best success? I know in the end the wood is going to do what it wants but I'd like to try

Jake, if you have a form clamp the bow to it at the handle and use a heat gun and clamp working out each limb heating and clamping. Once you get both limbs done go back over and toast the belly well then let it sit for a few days and it should be good to go.
