Title: Tillering-leaving the tips wide

 I'm tillering on the long string, left the tips wide for future string alignment. Do I have to leave the tips/outers stiff so that after it's braced and I can narrow the tips I don't run the risk if having the tips too weak?

I always keep the outer limb stiff then when I get the tips as narrow as I want them I start bending the outer limbs more. But I dont really keep them that much wider then the finished dimensions.

If the tips are 1/2" thick they shouldn't bend once you narrow them. After that you can reduce the thickness if you want.

Only slightly stiff because reducing width doesn't affect stiffness that much.
Best to leave the handle area full width all the way to first brace. Then simply shape the handle to where the string sits. Obviously this trick can save a whole lot of time trying to 'correct' string alignment down the line.
