This is a very special bow to me those who read the thread A few good people left, this bow was built using the draw knife that I purchased from the very distingushed gentleman , for $7.50. Though he will never see this ,this bow is dedicated to him and to show that your tools are in the hands of a person who respects them and will cherish them .Hopefully I have brought out the quality work that the drawknife deserves. This bow bears the name Blue Grass! Blue Grass is 54inches knock to knock it is 45 pounds of weight and draws to the point of 26 inches. The knock overlays and strike plate are made from a cow bone that me and my son found on a gravel bar on a over night float trip. The bow it self is a plains style bow , that has a few more inches added to it and a arrow rest. Since I will not be riding a trusty steed alongside running buffalo , but be hunting from the ground for Whitetails,The bow was made from billets purchased on ebay for $10.00 and W splice together there is some set back to the handle as much as I felt the splice can handle. The woods is yellow in color the stuff we all are addicted to Osage. There is a horse hair tassel on upper limb and to black and white tassels from the handle, the snake skin is what they called a Texas Rat Snake the thread wraps are red ,White and black deer skin handle , the handle is 1 1/4 inches with progressive taper to 3/4 inch at Knock thanks for reading and thanks to those of you who pass tools down to the next generation

Dennis, great looking bow. You need to bring it to the TN Classic so we can see it in person. :)

Hillbilly I would love to go to the TN classic but I wont be able to make it this year.
Rich I made it up to Mo Jam last year I was the one that camped at the very end in the fancy van with the murals painted on the side ,good lord a willing and the creeks don't rise [anymore ] going to try and make it this year.Seeing how I have made a few since then it will mean more, that is ware I learned about bending wood. Would like to learn about natural string building this year.
