I got a 4 day weekend so im about 4 hours there. Were going to be in grand junction on Saturday evening, and visiting a national park most of the day. I wish there was an emote of someone jumping up and down cause thats how i feel! Anything i should look for? Knappable stone? Antler? Natural material? A wild Hawkdancer? (lol)

Over on the western slope, you will find the Colorado National Monument, east of Grand Junction, and Dinosaur National Monument north of there. I assume you'll be traveling on I-80, I-76, and I-70, that will take you through Denver, and the ski country in the Mountains. After you clear the mountains, you will be in Glenwood Canyon, and the Colorado River valley all the rest of the way. We are in Loveland, north of Denver. Rocky Mountain National Park is just west of us! Seeing a wild Hawkdancer may take a bit of searching, though! I understand he is in the midst of a group of strange beings, who are burning charcoal from smoke poles at the NMLRA Colorado Territorial shoot in Ft Lupton, CO, completing Range Safety Officer training! By all means, give a call if you have time! I will pm you my phone number and email! I expect to be done with the training tomorrow or Sunday,, we should around on Monday. Have a safe and fun trip, it is about a 16-18 hour drive.

You'll have a ball being a Flatlander. I used to live in Glenwood Springs across the street from the Hot Springs pool. You might as well go to Moab while you are in Grand Jct.

sorry Eddie, Already done. 8)
I went to a camp in the summer, called AFY. Adventures For Youth. what we did was river raft, rock climb, rappel, canyonering, Archery (wheels though. they wouldn't let me bring my bow), Mountain biking and scrambling. I saw the Geminei Bridges. It was for a religious thing (AFY was a activity set up by BYU) and we talked about the creation and all that. it was stunningly beautiful! then double rainbows appeared! some kids started to cry but i started taking pictures! i lost the cameras though so bummer. I made so many good friends! also had tons of dust storms!
Im still trying to get the pictures from yesterday up but we visited the Glenwood Canyon, and the monument. We might hike white rock, but i LOVE devils kitchen!
I can explain how much fun im having! its just a lot to try to explain!

Fantastic! Sounds like you had a great time.

That ought to get you fired up for school and knapping and whatever else! Sounds like it is a very good trip so far! We do get a fair amount of double rainbows, and sometimes at least a partial triple.
