I started this bow a year ago but put it aside then lost interest. A few weeks ago I got a renewed interest in working on a bow so I decided to take it down and do some work to it. The bow is Maple backed Buckthorn 62" in length. I tillered it to 50# @ 28". I debated with myself for awhile but decided of a left hand bow since I already have one in right hand. I shot it some and it does shoot well.
There's no snow left outside but it is mucky and it was too nice out to take indoor photos so opted for a woodshed. Here's some pics.

You seem to like to build that style quite a bit. Looks good. 50# getting a little stiff for you young punk aint it.

You took the words right out of my mouth Don.
Beautiful bow Marc. Sure would love to shoot one of yours someday.
-
Marc, is that 62" direct or following the curves?
-
Very nice Sir. Looks like it floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee.
-
Yep. A beautiful bow for sure!
-
Yup... what they all said.
I love the way there are several different curves all melting into each other.

Lovely limb action, just lovely.
-
Another beautiful recurve. Your bows always look so smooth, awesome!
-
I'd call this a perfect bow. Thanx for posting.
Good to see you having so many staves left ;D
-
Thanks guys.
It is 62" long following the curves Don
I glued in about 4" of reflex into this bow and it maintains about 1.5" right after an hour of shooting it. I did pull it to 29" a couple times so it is secure at 28"

Very nice sir. let us know when you get some flight and Chrono results!!! Marc what kind of maple do you use for your backing?
-
Your still setting the standard for all to reaach Mark
nice to see you streching one out left handed in the outdoors.
-
Awesome Marc. That bend is inspiring :OK

I use Sugar Maple from trees I cut myself and I am very picky which tree I cut. This particular tree had a bit figuring to the wood.
-
Amazing curves!!!
-
Another great recurve Marc. Congrats. Arvin

OOOH the colors look pretty nice 8) 8) 8) Awesome bow
-
Thank you all
This bow does seem to be a bit more sensitive to arrow spine than usual but not overly so, could be my left hand shooting makes it so. I made one like it for a guy in BC last year to hunt Moose. He emailed me a couple months ago and told me his needed heavily spined arrows, he also told me it was the fastest bow he has ever owned. His pulled 60# @ 27"

Dear Marc
May you allow 2 1/2 further questions about this fantastic bow:
The Buckthorn part is spliced together deflexed?
The backing is one single piece edge grained?
Thanx for unveiling secrets!
Cheers to Corbeil
-
you're still making the nice bows, good workmanship
-
The Buckthorn is spliced at the handle and the Maple backing is also spliced at the handle and yes it is edge grain
-
Another beauty. Great bow Marc. God Bless
-
Perfect as always :OK.

Another fine piece of work, Sir!!
-
Another nice one, Marc. How clean is the Buckthorn as far as knots? We have so much of it here but it doesn't often grow in a clean manner.
-
Another splendid bow Marc. Sweet curves!
-
Thanks guys
There are a couple small pin knots Pat. It is hard to find clean growth in long pieces but much easier to find it in 3' long pieces
