I have a Harber freight belt sander that has been really good for me, especially given the price. Lately it has been making a lot of noise--squeeking. I don't know if it is the drive belt or the bearings. Does anyone have any experience servicing one of these sanders, or do I just put in earplugs until it breaks and buy a new one? With this Chinese stuff, it is hard to say what is fixable and what isn't worth it.

Probably the bearings... I replaced the ones on my cheapo sander.

My motor bearings went bad as howled like a banshee when I first started my sander then quieted down. I replaces some of the belt bearings before I realized it was my motor. I tried to replace the motor bearings but ended up getting a new motor.

I look at China Freight tools as one year throw a ways. Sometimes your time, materials and effort isn't worth fixing some of their crap.

I am with you JEB. this one has lasted me six, so I can't complain too much. It doesn't look terribly serviceable, so maybe I just need better ear plugs until it seizes up and get another.

Don't throw them away in a year, they come with a two year, no questions asked warranty if you have the receipt.

My router was squealing for a while and I used silicone spray to cure that.
