Title: correct some twist?
Post by: nsherve on September 18, 2018, 05:58:49 am
I'm beginning to finish my first recurve. On one of the ends there's a little bit of twist on the recurve that causes the bow to pull a little bit to one side. How would you fix this without having to reset the curve? The bow is made from hickory.

You may be able to twist the tip in the opposite position but you'll probably need to add heat.

You don't think that'll un-curve the recurve?

I guess you added the recurve using a form? Just clamp the recurve in the same form and twist it a little in the opposite direction with clamps and/or wedges and hit it with a heatgun for a minute. That's what I do and that never lets me down.
