Here is my first Osage flatbow, re-worked. I spent many hours on it last fall at our annual Cumberland Woodbow gathering, learning all about Osage from Goat. It tillered well but was a bit heavier than I needed(over 60) and tooth rattling hand shock! Fast forward to a couple weeks ago where I sat in on a bow workshop with Goat, I reduced the tips and the weight, now a more managable 56@28. The bow is 68” tip to tip. Nothing special about it, just really happy with it, and I love the wood. Osage is amazing! So much yew around and I have a bit of a crush on the yellow wood! Thanks for looking.

It's a nice bow I seen it last week while stumping with Blayne and his little one. I can't wait til the end of September. Goats bringing a short clean stave for me to work. I will actually make a bow this time instead of standing around slack-jawed. (It was cool to hang around like minded people). Nice one Blayne. Cheers- Brendan

Thanks everyone! I feel pretty blessed to have as good of a teacher as I do! Plus a good pal over all:) Don I have a roughed out osage molly in the garage that maybe I will bring out. And Brendan it was good to have a visit, even though it was short(damn mozzies!), see you in september👍
-
Thanks for all the kind words gents!
This was one of those staves that just wanted to be a bow, and I think
you made the right call in keeping it a simple stick.
September in Cumberland, I think there’s gonna be more Osage than yew!
-
Looking forward to all the yellow dust!
-
That really does look nice and clean...and ditto on those pictures. Nice post!
-
Great job on that osage stave!
-
New pics and I added a leather wrap to the handle. Something different:)
-
Nice bow from great wood! We need to do a swap we all meet at the norder and we throw osage across and you all toss us some yew. Under a pitch black sky we can get away with it!

I like this idea! Cheers- Brendan

Maybe the Mounties and the Border Patrol will be somewhere else! Nothing wrong with finding things laying around, though! I think!

A lot less illicit than what else is often smuggled back and forth! I know I will be looking for more Osage in the near future. I see some trades coming up!
