Okay this bow is made of a red oak board from Home Depot. It is 68" ntn, the handle is 1 1/2 inches wide, and the nocks are 3/8 wide. In the handle it is 3/4" thich (without leather) tapering to 3/8" at the nocks. It will draw 60# @ 26". The handle is built up by top grain leather and covered with rawhide. I couldn't let it be all store bought :)
It shoots exceedingly well. At 25-35yds it only needs minimal elevation with 750 grain arrows ;D

Your tiller looks good, the braced bow looks good and the unbraced bow has just enough set! ;) I would recommend that you round over all four edges so a splinter doesn't raise up and it will make the handle area more comfortable. About the radius of a pea should be sufficient. Well done! Pat

good job. especialy with a board bow. its hard to find the correct grain. i tried, it end up becomeing a 20 lb draw kids bow. i gonna give it to my cuz next time i see him. really nice bow man.
-
Congrats Kyle ya done well but like Pat said round off dem edges a bit.
-
Nice looking board. Looks like it ought to be a great shooter. Justin

wow nice great tiller. and its unbacked :o thats hard to do with a board
-
60 Pounds of Draw is kind pushing a Red Oak Board Bow...especially with them edges...so please round them before something Happens!!!
Very Nice Tiller Job though....looks really nice........and Dana....He is a Big one too......and another Longhair!!!!!!!!!!! I had to throw that in there.....I'll cut mine when I have no more to Grow!!! >:D >:D

That's a good lookin board bow Kyle - well done! Like everyone said though, round them edges a bit :).
-
Good job with that board, Kyle. You've also tapped a great resource for bow wood. Home Depot, Lowe's etc usually have inexpensive, really straight grained wood for great bows. I'm setting you up for April Self BOM of the Month...that way we can enjoy your bow for one more month!

The tiller really does look good Kyle.

Nice to see. That's a great looking bow. Jawge

Great tiller on that bow, good looking weapon. I would round those edges some, too.
-
I would only echo what others have said. That bow is pretty nice. Tiller looks awesome and I will bet it flat wings that arrow. Now I would round the corners on that red oak to relieve stress spots and for aesthetics and then maybe even bone the edges to "toughen" the areas a splinter might raise. Good Bow....now do just a tad more to make it a BETTER or even GREAT bow.
-
Awesome tiller! I'd round off the edges, however. It'll make it more comfortable to shoot, and less likley to lift a splinter. Nice bow!
-
Very nice job, tiller looks dead on to me and as all the others have said ,just round the edges and it should be a great bow.Nicely done.Never made a board bow,may have to give it a try. :)

Man, according to Yankee's oval overlay, the tiller looks spot on. Good job. I found an oak board in my shop last night that I bought at HD as well, still with my outlines marked on it waiting to be cut out. I left it out to inspire me. Your bow makes me want to get after it too.

Great lookin bow !!

Tiller needs to be in a book as a description of perfection, great job,...now round the edges so we can relax :D....Brian

Thanks guys i will round the edges of it like all of you said (my brother also ragged on me for that!!, i feel kind of stupid ;D) As for the tiller being good ;) it was actually very easy with the board (so long as it has a good staight grain!) it seems as long as the limbs had the exact same taper they almost tiller themselves.
....By the way the last 16" of each of the limbs and the handle are already rounded (you can't see it under the rawhide) I'll do the rest of it soon, Thanks :)

I figured Kegan would get on to you...considering the way He is with His Creations!! Still wish I could hit the Tiller like that when I was just beginning!!! Nice Job...Kyle

I can't add much more than anybody else, great bow. Sure starts to be no fun when ya' can't kid around with the guy's at the camp fire. Not many of us in school anymore.
-
Hey Yankee his brother is KEGAN not KEENAN....lol. Gotta bust chops once in a while
-
By the way, where's Kegan been lately? Seems like there for a while he was completing a bow about every other day, in between hand drill fires. >:D
