-
Another great job Ryan, just beautiful. Can't wait to see the full draw picture.
Pappy
-
What a beauty.....
-
Nice Ryan looks like a perfect hunting bow. Just right weight and draw length and how did ya know I can shoot righty and lefty ;) ;D
With the others must have the full draw picture.
-
Right on Ryan, Nice looking bow. Looks like you were successfull trying my nock style ;D Good for you I've been wanting to see some others try it. The double shelf looks great and like always those curves are sweet.. Can't wait to see in bending. Keenan
-
Love those Keenan style nocks! You sure got those curves down pat. Can't wait to see her bend.
-
Howdy Ryano,
Wow!! That's impressive!
Do you have any pictures of the of the Bend-Up?
What size (or length) radius did you use?
Were the tips on the rounded part of the form or were they past the radius, as you clamped things in?
And, on your limbs, what radius did you end up with - how much bend did you loose?
I'm interested in doing my first "flipped tips."
I have a bow, that I like very much, but the last seven inches, or so, are a bit too bendy - stacking.
I'm wondering if flipping the tips would help against the stacking?
Thanks much,
Canoe
-
I'm with Canoe. Could you post some pictures of how you "flipped the tips"?
-
Gorgeous - nice work on the nocks! I'll bet the full draw picture is going to look great, too.
-
Beautifull!!
David
-
nice bow looks good
Dennis
-
Ditto everything.
-
Thanks for the complements everyone. ;D
Keenan, ya I liked the ones on your build along bow so much I decided to give it a try. Thanks again for the build along.
Gordon, cant wait to see what you do with that piece I sent you. Its out of the same tree as this stave was.
Canoe, I can take a picture of the form I used for the tips, its just a form a free hand cut out of a 2x6. I used a heat gun to bend it to the form. This stave had natural reflex threw out to begin with, I just heat treated the belly over the kitchen stove with the bow braced backwards after tillering to brace, so it would retain as much reflex as possible.
Oh, here's the braced and full draw.

Spot on ryano awesome :)
-
i knew she would bend nicely. you done it again. beautiful weapon.
-
Thanks Dana, Marius. ;D
The grip on this bow is pretty unique for me, its a realy thick peice of moose leather I glued on like a regular wrap, then I used a razor blade to shape it and carve it down. Then I put a regular deer skin handle wrap over top of it. The bows handle was only like 3/4" or 7/8" wide before I added the leather grip.

Awesome bow, Ryan. Nice job. Jawge
-
FANTASTIC !!...as usual, excellent all around crafmanship and attention to details, and of course most of all, Tiller ;)
-
Ryan I'd be curious to know what the difference in string lenght, between nock point and upper loop versus nock point and lower loop. That bow looks like the arrow pass is closer to center than a lot of bows I see posted.
Fabulous tiller as usual.
You hittin' them cheetos perty hard w/ all the home time yer gettin'? LOL Just kiddin'. You don't look too road hard and put up wet, for having a 8 wk old.
-
Nice bow Ryan. I love the way you padded the handle on it. Is the arrow pass at center? Looks like DCM was looking at the same thing I was and posted while I was typing. ;D Justin
-
Awesome Ryan, You absolutely nailed that tiller. ;D Your bows always seem to have very nice lines. Keenan
-
Thanks Jawge.
Thanks Manny, looking forward to seeing some more of your work!
David, Its 28" from the arrow pass to the top limb nock groove and 30" to the bottom one. So I guess its about a inch above center, its just where it felt right to me on this one. I also see the bow is actualy 58" ntn 60" tip to tip, whoops I wrote that wrong earlier. I'll have to go back and correct that.
Justin, Thanks. It seems to be about a inch above center.
Thanks Keenan, I admire your work as well. ;D
-
Real rad bow they just keep getting better :)
-
Yesssir! That's a nice 'un. How's it shoot? You bringing it to Pappy's?
-
She's a beauty Ryan. Bring her to the classic so we can touch her. It doesn't take much osage to make a good, hard hitting bow, does it? Pat
-
Very nice Ryan, tiller looks dead on to me and the finish work is great.Love it. :)
Pappy
-
Very nice bow Ryan. Sweet and gracefull lines to that one
-
That's a great looking bow Ryan as usual. Those tips look really nice and the timber rattlers are some of the best looking skins to use on a bow I think.
Alan
-
A very good tiller on a beautiful bow, as I said before. Congrats Ryan.
-
Ryan, you're definitely a talented bowyer! Another nice recurve, and as always great attention to detail and the tiller looks perfect! :)
Greg
-
Very nice bow!! I love the antler nocks!! What did you use for glue for the nocks?? Your tiller is spot-on, and I really like the flipped tips.
-
Thanks pk.
Its shoots as good as I can shoot it Shannon, which sometimes aint to good. No its sweet shooting bow, smooth draw, fast, and hard hitting.
Patb, yes I'm planning on bringing it along with me if someone doesnt talk me out of it by then.
Thanks Pappy,Marc,woodland,andew and Greg.
adb3112, thanks Im glad you like them. I used super glue for the tips.
-
Ryan-wow! Awesome little bow-that's a sleek looking weapon. Great lines on that bow.

Great full draw - really shows off the tiller. Looking forward to see how this one stacks up (no pun intended) >:D for March Self Bow of the Month.

Sean
-
Thanks Sean, I noticed youve been making mostly bendy handle bows lately.
-
Great job Ryan, nice to see your work.
-
Thanks Ray. You should try to make it down to our shoot memorial day weekend.
-
Ryano, you sure built a good one there brother. I love how you did the tips and the snake skins are great.. the only problem i have with the bow is the location where she resides.. Wyoming would be a far better place for a bow like that to live... LoL ;).. great job.. Hawk a/ho
-
Sweet bow Ryano again :) - inspirational!! Wish I had more time :'( ;D..
-
Thanks Mike. I realy enjoyed your article in this months issue..... 8)
Thanks Cowboy, glad you like...... ;D
-
Whooa, how did I miss this? Great looking bow Ryan. Tiller is dead on and how are the tips put done?
-
Whooa, how did I miss this? Great looking bow Ryan. Tiller is dead on and how are the tips put done?
Thanks Eddie, the tips are whitetail deer antler. They are just the tips of a tine that were cut off on a angle and shaped up on the belt sander and then glued on with super glue. I got the idea from Keenan.
-
It look's real nice.
-
Thanks Eddie. ;D
-
Great looking bow! Someday I'll have to try and tackle something like that. It sure is a great looking bow and I bet it's a joy to shoot!
-
;)Beautiful bow Ryano, the snake skins on osage with those sexy curves is a great combination!Well done!
-
Thank you guys, it is a fun liitle bow to shoot. ;D
