Has anyone tried using American Beech for a selfbow
-
Yep....I like it...it's easy to work ....just like Sycamore is....but it is a Biotch to Cut....If that makes any sense to you!!! Really Hard wood
-
Not yet but I have a stave in the rack. :)
-
Yep , I have one that I'm finishing up - very good wood . ;D

Thanks for the input - I have access to three 7' logs - time to go to work
-
And don't forget about the Ones who answered your Question...We could all use a small Token of Gratitude.........like a single Stave!!! You know some of Us live where there isn't a Tree in sight
:'( :'( :'( 8)

BK, you say you have access to a 7' log. When was it cut and how has it been handles since it was cut? It is white wood and fungi attacks whitewood pretty quickly. Just be aware before you put too much time into making staves and bows from it. ;) Pat

Thanks for all the responses - The tree was blown over during a wind storm about a month ago. I was able to save three 7' logs - 12", 11" ,8".
Already split out a total of 27 staves.
