I've made this for an ace lady archer so I've blinged it up really pretty.
I used my tapering machine made from an old power plane to taper the Purpleheart and the Yew billets. The Yew was heat treated before glue up and I glued it all in one hit with about 1" of gentle reflex.
She wanted it 45# or a bit over. It looks nearer 50# in the FD , but some of that is due to camera angle, I think its about 47#
The arrow plate ias Abalone and the grip is Rolls Royce upholstery leather 8)
I think she'll like it ;D

Very fancy she will love it !

Well now, that must be one special lady to deserve an outstanding bow like that. (-S And the Rolls Royce upholstery leather... only Del the cat could have thought of a finishing touch like that. ;)

That's prettyyyy! i am sure she will love it!

Nice one Del, I bet that is one smooth shooter!

Cheers guys, just noticed the FD pic looks a bit waggly on the back, that's where the resolution has been reduced to get it in the 200kb limit. :(

Beautiful bow Del!

That's a pretty sweet bow! May have to make something like that for the wife someday. Heck... maybe I'll make one for myself, as well!
;D

Very nice and clean work! that abalone looks great as arrow pass.
I've already seen it on your blog and watched with interest.
-
quite nice finish and execution, Del.
Any thing special on the back? Maybe a boo pic?

I'll post more pics tomorrow, but here's another...
BTW . Nothing special on the back, I prefer a clean simple low shine finish. Understated British, stiff upper lip, no fancy nonsense, that's the spirit ;)

I like it. I would really like to try a trilam one day

Great work Del, love the finishing touches

Nice work Del. Looks like you have a longer dip on the upper limb cf lower limb? Are the working limbs the same length or is the top limb still a bit longer?

Nice work. She going to love it

Good spot :)
I went with equal length working limbs and the arrow pass a tad higher than usual about 1.5" rather than the usual 1"
The leather is possibly a hint longer than necessary, but I've been caught out once making it too short so I make 'em long.
Visually that's one thing I don't like about Victrorian style ELBs.

I find the difference in the dip length to be useful(longer upper limb dip), with stiff handled bows(esp wider flatbows). It allows you to use even limbs but use a spot the balances well in the hand and closer to where you provide the most pressure with a Mediterranean draw. With wide bows a longer top dip will give you more scope for a better sight window.

Cool looking bow.nice job

As Ruddy said. Just Smashing my Good Man. Would be great to see a fd with the lady. She's a lucky gal.

The only leather good enough to wrap Del's bows, naturally!
