I just finished another spoon from a spalted piece of hickory that Scott "stringman" sent me in a goody box of wood. And thought Id throw in the other two I finished from osage and pecan.
-
They look a whole lot better than when I shipped em off!
-
Thanks, Scott, I'm not done yet. I'm trying to build up a pile for when I retire and start the Mountain Rendevous circuit.
-
Nice looking spoons. The pecan is my favorite one.nice job
-
Nice spoons Eddie. What tools are you using to make them?
-
Mullet,
Real nice work! Like the Osage and pecan. The hickory is just fantastic!

Nice (A) ! Bob
-
my preference is for osage
did you oiled pecan and osage?
-
Nice stuff Eddie, beautiful work.
Pappy
-
Thanks, guys. Pat, I roughed them out on the bandsaw and then carved them with a curved knife. They are oiled with Butcher Block oil.
-
Nice. Got to get one of those curved knives myself.
David
-
Superb craftsmanship - I really like the way the osage looks.
-
Those look good Eddie. Get everything back in order after the storm? Been thinking about you guys. Are you going to make it to Pappy's in November? If so, let me know what days.

David, I found out a really good knife isn't cheap. Dave, I'm planning on being there, I think it will be the week of the 12th. Chris' daughter is getting married on the tenth and they are planning on leaving on the 11th. I will be there depending on how it works out with Physical Therapy. I'll only be two weeks out of surgery again.
-
Spoons...very nice. Just got a truck load of burl if your interested. Surgery? Pipes have been my passion for a while.
-
Eddie,
Good luck with the surgery, hope all goes well! Don't be giving those surgeons so much practice!! Might try to work a trade, got some fresh cut cherry in the freezer. Just don't find much hardwood out
here!
Vine,
You are talking briar burl? I am interested. Don't smoke tobacco any more, but still interested in pipes, and making them. Might need to start a pipe thread!

Go ahead and start a thread.... Maple burl, not Briar. I have been making traditional, and primitive pipes...lots of fun. traditional pipes are harder than I thought. Sorry for stomping on your thread Eddie.
-
No problem, Brian. I'm always interested in some nice, figured wood.
-
Really nice looking spoons made from an interesting variety of woods.
-
Thank you. I'm trying to build up a stockpile for the Rendevous in January.
-
COOL spoons Eddie!

awesome carving. John

Thank you. I'm trying to build up a stockpile for the Rendevous in January.
Where's the rendezvous......I may need a boon doggle with the wife in January....;)

Rendezvous in January got to be far south! or the Frozen Toes at st. Vrain!! >:D (=). My one pole been there, done that - I have't got enough gumption to try to put it up in far below freezing! Besides that, I have reached the point where I am crazy, not dumb! Had a tipi tripod break with me underneath, luckily was able to get away without ringing my bell again! Ya'all have a good time!

Bill, the Alafia River Rendevous put on by the Florida Frontiersmen. Usually around January 21st. It is just down the road from the machine shop you visited on Hwy 555.

Sweet spoons. If you make some pots watch out, lol
I have spoon size spalted maple, spalted sycamore, ,hickory, walnut, cherry, ash and cedar.
A little concerned about the mold though??

Just finished this one. And I really like my new branding iron.

Hey, Don, you ever eat Blue Cheese?
-
And another I just finished along with a cast iron skillet scraper the wife wanted.
-
Man - those are NICE Eddy -C- :OK ! Bob
-
I have to say they look great, a rack of those hanging in the kitchen would look a picture. 8)
I got a fair bit of 3yr seasoned UK Hazel seeking a purpose, and this looks something I'd like to have a go at. :)
R.D.

RD, it is fun once you get started. Another hobby when I'm taking a break from bow building. But, I have finished building two bows, also.
-
We bought a camper van a couple of months ago and the plastic picnic stuff we had before is breaking. A set of spoons and bowls is on the wife's wish list!
-
;D :OK
-
Those are some great looking spoons Mullet
-
They are real nice! Like the branding iron! Spoons is almost as addictive as bows :BB >:D! Finished a couple of spoons and have the bow layed out. Don't have a good work area, and have to check out my lumber for dry wood to make a bow bench; we got rain, snow, and nasty for a couple of days, then back to high lairs dry (R! Not to mention sharpening knives, trying to figure out the tin tipi, getting everything else ready for hunting, and making a batch of chicken noodle soup tomorrow!

If you sand your brand a little you will get a much crisper signature.

Thanks for the tip, Eric.

Dang it - I've always wanted to do some Spoons, this post has sent Me over the edge. Calling Crazy Crow later and ordering a Crooked Knife and going the store and grabbing a Drexel tool. Have ton's of Hard Maple & Mullberry in My yard to split Billets from. Looks like My Winter project is started (=), Thanks Eddy :OK - Bob.
-
Bob, they have some really good crooked knives at Woodworkers Supply.
-
Thanks Bud :OK. Bob

Beautiful work Eddie.
How long does it take you to make one?
Can you post a pic of your knife.
