Did these two novelty pipes the other day. I don't smoke
but I think they will function well and I am not from CA bubby. LOL
I hope I can improve as I do more of this stuff.

like your carving Zuma, nice pipes

Nice, Don. I'm sitting on some soapstone I bought from Eric at the Classic. I need to do something with it. I really want to make an oil lamp with the big piece.
-
Very nice work.

Nice carving! Not sure how soapstone would hold up to being smoked anyway. Some one told me it was too soft(?), but was a real good practice medium.

Sweet work Zuma. That first pic reminds me of a dream I used to have as a teenager. :D

Very nice Zuma, always enjoy seeing what your up to.

Thanks a bunch guys. Can't wait to see your lamp Eddie.
Dancer soapstone holds up fantastic. Like Stoner said on the other thread
"They make wood stoves out of it". It is also impervious to all chemicals.
I have a slab I cook burgers and steaks on.

Nice work

There's a company that makes wood stoves out of soapstone up in Vermont where I lived for almost a decade. They're said to be some of the best stoves in the world cause they radiate heat so well.
-
Great job carving the stone. Your doomed now, you've awakened the creative monster inside. John

Don, I bought a book at the Shoshone Reservation Museum when I was in Idaho about the Sheep Eater Shoshone Tribe that was famous for their large soapstone bowls and pots. Real interesting.
-
Wow! Learn something new every day! Guess whoever told me it wasn't good with heat was real wrong! Will have to post the plain pipe I carved out years back as a practice piece. If I can get pics to post.

Love to see it.

You do some beautiful work, very nice job. :)

Thanks for taking an interest in soapstone.
I think I'll start a new thread with more pics from projects in the past.
Raw soapstone too.

Hopefully, this is the pipe I carved some years ago. Did this with chipping blades, small hunting knife and hand held drill for the holes. Will probably try the pipestone this winter amongst all the other things to do. Don, not trying to steal the post, just seemed logical to post here.

Cool pipe. Is that a double header? lol
No problem posting anything on my threads. I thought that is what it's all about.
