Title: Question about a backed bow
Post by: Iowahedge on May 29, 2017, 03:33:01 pm
Got a Hickory backed osage bow Ive managed to not blow up, and was wondering if we are permitted to post a picture on these site for input on it. If so got a fairly new iphone whats the easiest (if there is one) way to post images. Even if the HBO isnt allowed whats the easiest for way for picture posting. I know ive seen posts on posting pictures but now that ive got stuff i feel good enough about posting I cant remember what area of the forum i read them in.

It's perfectly fine to post pictures of a Hickory backed Osage bow here.  Fiberglass bows have to go in the campfire page, natural material bows are fine to post on the Bows page.

I use imgur to upload pictures and then copy the img link here.

Kinda worked shows the link and works on my phone to bring the picture up.   Wanna make sure everything is in order before i post anymore. Not really tech savvy didnt know if the picture would just show like on alot of posts or sends you to imgur and shows it to you. If that makes sense

Cool, now you can put
Code: [Select]
[img]...[/img]
around it and it should display as a pic and not a link. so

Code: [Select]
[img]https://i.imgur.com/jfc4iqi.jpg[/img](https://i.imgur.com/jfc4iqi.jpg)

or you can just select the link and press the "insert image" button below the Bold button in the forum post page thing

Nice bow

Yeah, it can be really annoying. But once you find a way to get it working it shouldn't be too bad

Code: [Select]
[img]https://imgur.com/a/HfCkZ[/img]
The problem is the URL inside the img tags. It's a link to an album/post with one image on it - "/a/HfCkZ", not an individual image. You have to do the hold on the image and copy link.

This is what it should be -
Code: [Select]
[img]https://i.imgur.com/QpUKYwb.jpg[/img]
but I guess links to a gallery work too. So I guess photos.google.com albums could also be fine, especially if they have no ads. Site owners don't really want links to sites with ads..

Tiller is ok. I like a little more bending near the hand but I would not touch a finished bow with that tiller. Jawge

Loon, thanks for all your help with the pictures!  Ill get it figured out soon... I hope. George, I agree  with the more bend closer to the handle.. There was alot of firsts on this bow and was a little worried having z spliced and adding a handle that it would pop off. Once I figure out the picture posting Ill post a few more pictures of the brace and unbraced profile.

Alrighty I think with quite a bit of help i might have another picture unbraced. You can see the set in a few places.  It ended up around 33# @ 28 inches. Its not finished in any way. Thinking Im just gonna seal with some clear coat of some kind and shoot it till It lets go or get another one built at a little higher draw weight. Learned alot on this one.  I can post one of the handle area but its not pretty.
