I'm a glutton for punishment. This stave was an absolute rollercoaster when I started. I had to do quite a bit of heat treatment to tame it down. I was constantly second guessing myself as I worked to get the limbs bending and doing their fair share of work. The bow pulls 45#@28". I got the lovely skins from Cipriano. For the tip overlays I used cow hoof. We had some sitting around from a cow that ended up in our freezer this winter. I am really pleased with how they look. I will definitely use them again. I made this bow for my uncle, who basically said, "make me a cool bow". He doesn't shoot so I'm trying to come to terms with the fact that this bow will live out it's life on the wall. Next time I visit I'll try to get him shooting.

Thats a sharp looking bow! Nicely done.
-
just beautiful
-
Wow!

Weylin,, I saw the braced profile,, you are right that was challenging,, I think you did the right thing letting the full draw profile dictate the shape of the bow,,the braced profile is not representing how the limbs are are bending,,,keeping the taper even at full draw is key,, I wish I could shoot that one,, I have a vine maple stave and you are inspiring me to give it a try,, (SH)

Wow beautiful bow. Your uncle will love that bow.

Very nice~! Did the limbs keep walking on you?
-
Wow again! Said it on your FB page already but it looks absolutely stunning! Would definately hang it on my wall! I hope you can get your uncle to shoot is every now and then.

Thank you, everyone. I never know what people are going to say when I post a bow with a funky tiller. It's hard to capture with pictures. I will definitely try to get my uncle to put some arrows through it some time.
Brian, I'm not sure what you mean by the "limbs walking on me".

Awesome bow. You Oregon boys sure know what to do with VM
-
Very nice! Weather your uncle shoots it or it lives on the wall he will be very proud of it!!

You said you did quite a bit of heat treatment. Some staves even after heat treatment, or steam want to walk back (out of your desired alignment) or move back to their original position.
