I heard from trusted members that Buckthorn makes a good bow, so I decided to give it a shot. (SH) I wasn't disappointed. :D
Not only is it tough as nails, but it feels like it's great in compression. It must be pretty decent in tension as well cause this bow was made from a sapling and is highly crowned. I've shot it about a hundred times and at no point have I had that feeling that it's gonna blow. She's holding her profile nicely as well.
Oh yeah, and the steam bending went well. The string alignment was off though, but a whole bunch of tweaking with the heat gun solved that.

Very nice indeed!
Got any pics of the belly? It's beautiful heartwood isn't it?

Thanks DB. I'll take one. It really is beautiful... lots of reddish oranges and yellows.

Nice job. We have Cascara here which is a Buckthorn relative. It grows everwhere and is nice and straight. I'll have to try it.

Thanks Simson. Whenever I need a little inspiration I go to your website to browse the bows and study the build-alongs. Can't tell ya how much I appreciate all the work you've put into it. ;)
