Title: Tiller check
Post by: timmyd on May 04, 2017, 07:41:17 pm
Hi all. Thought I would get some opinions on my tiller. Lower limb is on right and an inch shorter. Tillering for 3 under hence the hook position on the string. Picture is drawn to 18". Brace tiller shows lower limb stiffer by 1/16" but it seems like it's stiff? Suggestions welcome.

yeah the tiller is a bit off. The left limb is bending more out of the fades. The right limb is bending much more mid limb with the left's mid limb being pretty much straight-ish. The right limb is stiffer but it's doing most of its work in the mid-limb, therefore, it looks like its bending more. The left limb is mending more gradually and more evenly distributed throughout the limb.

I would leave the mid-limb of the right one alone. Don't touch it anymore. Focus a little more on the area in the fades and slightly outward. You might have to take some off the left limb to at mid limb if things still don't line up.

It's tough to see with the busy background. Can you hang a sheet or something behind it?

The right limb looks good. Left limb looks like a hinge starting at the last 6 inches. The left limb looks flat from the end of the fades to the hinge area.

Aren't you glad you asked? :)

To fix a hinge remove woo from above and below leaving the hinge alone.

Looks like it's trying to hinge on the right fade. Right at the edge of the bricks. What happens if you take the clamp off? I like the bow to be free to rock (and roll). ;D

Way better! Did you cut a shelf in? Turn it upside down and take another picture.

Tiller looks much better, but it would always help the visual, if you had an arrow nocked.... and a full draw from both sides.
