Title: "Yukon Sky" - Sturgeon Backed Osage - 54# @ 28" (Pic Heavy)
Post by: Cloudfeather on April 13, 2017, 07:30:54 pm: This is my latest Osage. The stave had this scarring in it, so I decided to back it with thin rawhide, shoot it in, then sand the rawhide a bit thinner before applying sturgeon skins. I'm very pleased with the outcome.

The skins were a bit of a new experience, but not too terrible to work with all in all. There was a knot near the one tip, so I drilled it out and put in an ebony wood plug. Little beauty mark, lol. I hope everyone enjoys it. :)

Mine were prepped when I got them, but I've been researching how to process them. You flesh, salt/dry, wash the salt off, then soak in dawn dish soap and water overnight, tack and dry.

I got mine from AlmostPigHunter. Very good quality skins. I'm waiting to hear back about a potential source at the moment.
