These are marks on Yew. At first they look like pins, then maybe bug holes. They don't feel any different than the wood. Scraper doesn't jump. Can't find a hole with a dental pick. Just like a pigmentation change that trails off either end like a rot stain. I've seen them on a few yew staves. Any ideas?

Old rotten grown over pins. Or what's lefts of them. I have seen quite a few like that. Cheers- Brendan

Thanks Brendan, I tried to find a cut-off with some in it so I could chase them but no luck.
