Title: interesting korean archery film
Post by: jeffp51 on March 07, 2017, 11:02:17 pm
this was a delightfully nationalistic piece on korean archery.  The information on the korean bow and archery was interesting, but the national pride in their archery tradition was even more interesting to me.  It makes me think about how many different cultures identify themselves in some way through their archery. (English, mongolian, native american, etc).

Cultural archery is super interesting.  Kinda interesting to reflect on modern American archery being so industrial/compound and even worse the big crossbow push - not archery.

An Osage American flat-bow and some knapped cane arrows could be regarded next to baseball and apple pie, internationally.

I've said for years that a place like Twin Oaks and the TN Classic is cultural event.  Consider the significance of it if were the equivalent in a culture like Japan or Korea or Bhutan or Mongolia, etc.
